Amazing! Working backwards, I have to say I wouldn't have believed that we would fit everything in today. Waking up at 415am was rude! I dont think poor Trisha's head had even hit the pillows long enough to make a dent. Raining on top of Wintergreen loading the van was an ominous start. Bags and bikes piled in we headed down the mountain in search of their origin in Cherokee NC.
Our first stop was McDonalds in Lynchburg-libertyU. trying to get out of there was fun as Ricky-Bobbi did a victory lap around the city to get us out of there! OK, so we all have redneck mountain names. Shawn=Sue-Bob (named after her alias and growth), SanDee is SanDee Jean (her real name), Karen is Daisy, Deanna is 'Bama, Scott is Roscoe, Gregg is Corn Cob, our driver Robb is Ricki-bobbie, mine is Kandy. I can not remember Mary & Casey's but I report them off tomorrow when I do.
Next stop......McDonalds - yup Mc'D's tour in the making. This was just a pee break. Lunch at subway with pouring rain miles from the star - not looking good. We were able to get on our bikes by 1pm. Lucky for us it did not rain.. Beautiful views, threat of rain, hard uphill, sweet downhills with obnoxious motorists clipping by at nascar speeds. Oh yeah - and dark tunnels!
We managed to finish the first 25 miles, make it to the hotel, shower and then back in the van to Bryson City to go to my sisters restaurant for dinner. MIRACLE!
